Archiving Policy

To ensure permanent availability and accessibility, Birne Publishing House pursues various strategies:

  • Public Knowledge Project (PKP) Private LOCKSS Network (PLN) and PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN):
Birne Publishing House uses Open Journal Systems (OJS), a journal management and publishing system developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP). Published content is deposited into both the PKP Private LOCKSS Network (PLN) and the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to ensure preservation, redundancy, and perpetual access, even in the event of system failures or discontinuation.

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe):
In addition, Birne Publishing House participates in the CLOCKSS global archive, which preserves academic content through a decentralized network of libraries, guaranteeing long-term digital preservation and content authenticity.

  • German National Library (DNB) mandatory deposits:
Birne Publishing House is obliged to submit all online issues of the Arab German Journal of Sharia and Law Sciences (AGJSLS) to the DNB, which catalogues and archives online publications, guarantees their authenticity, and ensures long-term preservation.

  • Birne Publishing House digital archives: Furthermore, Arab German Journal of Sharia and Law Sciences (AGJSLS) maintains its own digital archive and preserves all information on external computers and disks
